How do you participate in open source projects? I have went to a few sites that have open source projects but don't know how to participate in them.

Are you looking for a new project? If so, check out "Project Partners Wanted" under "Business Exchange" at the top there. You can also just create your own project at some open source site and hope that you attract some interest.
