Get an Iphone 4s camera to scan letters and number

I'm in need of some help here please.

What i need the app to do.

I'm trying to create an iPhone app.

What i'm trying to do is get the iPhone camera to scan 2 letters and 6 numbers (e.g. JH847593) then send that id number off to a filemaker database i'm developing and bring back the data relating to the id number on the filemaker database.

also

Pick up a signal from a microchip which will send the id number by either Wifi, infrared, 3gs and/or bluetooth to the iphone app then get relating data from that ID back to the iphone.
