I would like to learn the Win32 or the Windows API. But I have no clue. I just need some guidance to go ahead.

Here is a very popular tutorial. But it's much easier to write GUI programs in C# or VB.NET

Opt for wxWidgets, that way you can also create programs for linux and mac with native look and feel. It's worth learning because win32 is obviously restricted to windows only.

wxBuilder is a good resource.
