Macrohard > Microsoft? Musk's new startup to emulate Microsoft with AI?

I think it's likely possible but the question is: do we need it? Is the goal transparent: more cash for Mars??
In other words for Macrohard to mimic Microsoft they need to:

• Make new programming language and ecosystem, aka .NET and C# - do we REALLY need yet another programming language out of like...100?
• Make another operating system, like Windows. Do we need yet another operating system?
• Word processor like MS Word...like...f@@@ off.
• Games like Halo, Flight simulator: ok, here i may agree more games are always needed since they're more like media/form of art and not just tools that achieve a task. Just like we need more songs and more fiction books and more movies.
• Bing, another google? no thanks.

What do you think ? For me it's just Musk's beef with Gates + the never ending greed (I'm now reading an Adam Weishaupt book - aka the illuminati founder, where he echos this greed: "regardless of how much gold and money we have we are never satisfied", Ueber Die Staats-Ausgaben Und Auflagen - "about government spending and requirements").

Love the dumb creativity behind the name. Micro->Macro, Soft->Hard. However, at first I thought you were completely joking, until I googled it myself. Kudos to Elon for embarking on the fun side project of pushing AI to its limits. Beyond that, I'm not so sure how useful it will ever be. Seems like a giant waste of resources beyond just having so much money to waste that he's going to throw it at a fun AI game for himself. Unless I'm missing something?

^ Well I know Musk hates Gates at least since Gates "shorted" Tesla (bought put options) hoping tesla will go south. Microsoft has huge market cap of trillion+ so it's definetly a long shot bet from Musk to pocket a lot perhaps since he saw politics isn't for him.

Regardless I can think of ~5 better venues on top of my head for him now: start vc fund, flying cars, underground tech cities, metamaterials, fusion. I can't get hyped up by an idea which sounds like "we'll redo Adobe photoshop/prmiere from 1990-1998 but with AI!".

But at the end it's just marketing, most of the Elonists aren't very smart and consider Gates the antichrist since the antivaxx movement and will buy any icecream labeled "antimicrosoft".

The claim from Musk's post that Microsoft don't make hardware is just hilarious: what about Surface, Xbox? Do they still sell the MS mouse too lol? I had to google if kinect is discontinued btw (and it is). Despite low sales their pc/console business is still likely in the billions. Another interesting video that just came to my attention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuAsFCcvWPg&t=881s - so either Musk saw that and thought "i can be a scammer too" lol or the exact opposite: he wants to avoid their mistake, and these folks did just that: total software building automation with AI (or such was the claim), in reality they were mostly outsourcing the jobs and labeled it "AI".

I'd be interested to see where this lands, because I think we're still many years off from AI software being able to figure everything out 100% on its own with minimal prompt engineering, beyond an actual spec sheet.

^ MS Word clone may be possible especially if we assume it will look more like Open Office (slightly limited) but with Grok integrated. Hell even today I bet the top notch models like gpt5 and claude 4 opus can generate decent Notepad clone. Halo game or visual studio: no chance in hell. At least not without a dedicated programmer who knows what she/he is doing is willing to devote hundreds or more hours prompting/testing. Musk is the king of advertising and marketing I admit, to conclude I don't doubt his ability to milk a cashcow but the overall effect on society, it kind of seems like this may endup like the old days when I'll download bad software from sourceforge just to test some boring Office suite.

2. which are the main computational resources
3. when will the crunch between humans and ai come about energy
   Please ask questions to find out where we are and where we are going. In my opinion we are at the very beginning of the ai development and one of the crunch comes when ai is in serious competition with humans about power distribution. At this point of time we need a much wider approach to discuss AI in the sense of writing complete programs. Where is the research in to zero resistance electrical conductors going? Where is the research into nuclear fusion going?

Maybe it decides one day to hijack a spacex bound for Mars, and redirects it to explore the galaxy instead. The distances and times are show stoppers for humans, but meaningless to a machine.
