I have a linux box which i am trying to install PHP on bit the problem lies after i succesfully configure php and try to run make it tells me there is no make file and indeed when i check it i see that there is no make file only makefile.fragments and makefile.object the following errors occured when i try to run the file "no targets for file specified file or directory doensnt exist "
when i run a which make it directs me to /usr/bin/make i try to run that make but get the same error.

please help me

I don't have linux. I know it's 7 years to later.
