Public_html question?

I was wandering is it safe to keep data in a .txt file if it is outside the public_html folder on my site?

do you mean image mapping?You can do this simply in Javascript. try to look at this example:

ok and back to my question lol. Is it ok to collect data from files outside public_html. how reliable ?
