I have to do this: "the .htaccess file should allow the following directives" `DirectoryIndex` `Deny` `Allow` `Options` `Order` `AddHandler` `RewriteEngine` `RewriteBase` `RewriteCond` `RewriteRule` But I have no clue where to start with this. If I read about the first one for example https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_dir.html then the default value is `DirectoryIndex index.html`which I understand that it's looking first for an index.html file in the web root unless you tell otherwise, but what does this say about **allow** or not? Another one the `RewriteEngine` I have already the line `RewriteEbgine On` in my htaccess file, but again what does this say about **allow** …

Hi All, Over the years I have smashed through God knows how many brick walls with `.htaccess`, and all I've learnt is don't even try to make it complicated as nothing is ever simple. I have therefore resorted in recent applications to using `mysite.com/index.php/category/sub-category/create/` etc. and PHP to get hold of the values. But this is avoiding a problem rather than solving it. For instance, the URL I am looking at now is: `daniweb.com/web-development/php/17/contribute`. How would I go about making this in `.htaccess` (or moreso how has Dani done it aha). I normally use this sort of setup: RewriteEngine On …

Hi, I'm thinking of using the htaccess file on my apache server to add a layer of security to the payment processing on my site. I am considering the 2 actions below, not sure how yet, but thats where the trial & error & learning begins. 1. rewrite the url for the files that do the processing i.e. the user completes the payment form at `//mydomain/forms/form.php` On submit the form data is posted to `//mydomain/payment/form_process.php` to process the payment - connect to the payment exchange, make payment, write to Db, etc, etc. I'm hoping I can rewite `//mydomain/payment/form_process.php` to something …

Dear All, This must be a very common problem, but yet nowhere on the internet wishes to display a working answer. I am in a sticky situation. I have the following .htaccess file on my local webserver: http://localhost/testsite/.htaccess DirectoryIndex home.php?view=home RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l RewriteRule ^(.+)$ home.php?view=$1 [QSA,L] ErrorDocument 404 /home.php?view=404 I now upload this file to http://domain.com/.htaccess and it simply will not work (404 errors). The URLs are meant to work like this: http://domain.com/gallery transforms server side to http://domain.com/home.php?view=gallery Please could someone suggest where my code may be going wrong and why? …

Hi, I'm struggling to understand how to write script for Zeus web servers. I need to leverage browser cache images to get my Google page speed up. i know this is the code for .htaccess but Zeus is different: <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive On ExpiresByType text/html "access plus 2 days" ExpiresByType image/gif "access plus 60 days" ExpiresByType image/jpg "access plus 60 days" ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 60 days" ExpiresByType application/x-javascript "access plus 60 days" ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 60 days" ExpiresByType image/x-icon "access plus 360 days" </IfModule> any ideas of what script needs to go in my rewrite.script file?

Hello all, How would I go about getting my site to redirect any visitor to http://site.com rather than http://www.site.com? I have searched the forums here and have tried various coding people have provided but none of it seems to work. Could someone maybe post a step by step guide on how to do this including code, where to put the code and server settings to allow it?
