ASUS Computers I recently had dealings with Asus. The situation was regarding a malfunctioning keyboard. The computer is a several-year-old (no longer under warranty) Asus K53E laptop. It belongs to my father-in-law and because he is somewhat careless with food (he is 91 so this is understandable), something eventually got under one of his CTRL keys causing it to stick closed. Naturally, this made the keyboard (and scroll wheel) useless. At this point there were two possible solutions: 1. Clean the keyboard 1. Replace the keyboard Before trying option 1 I wanted to see if I could actually purchase a …

Hi. i ran a SFC /SCANNOW on my laptop(Asus, Windows 8.1) and there are corrupt files according to cmd. Checked the CBS log file and found multiple DIRSD OWNER WARNING , Ignoring duplicate ownership for directory AND [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:36{18}] . Could someone explain to me what the first one means? I mean if its possible to fix all three problems, how? I guess, if you see the whole log then only you'd know how to help but theres like dozens of lines (crazy to copy paste all that). So how do i proceed? maybe i'll attach …

I have 2 routers. An Asus RT-N65U and a D-link dir-605L. I know the dir-605L is WDS capable. But can I make it a repeater of the Asus router? Or will dlink routers only serve as repeaters to other D-link primary routers?

I don't say it often (thank goodness) but OMG, and not in a good way. This [ASUS Transformer V machine](http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/389047/asus-reveals-five-in-one-transformer-book-v?) has got to be the maddest idea I've seen for years. > The Transformer Book V is a Windows 8.1 laptop/tablet hybrid, which turns into an Android 4.4 KitKat device when a 5in Android smartphone is docked in the back. So, let's run that again: it's a Windows 8.1 laptop, a Windows 8.1 tablet, an Android 4.4 laptop,an Android 4.4 tablet and an Android smartphone all in one. Does anyone here have the particular problem that this device will solve? …

Hello, I have an ASUS P8H61-M LE motherboard that I purchased last year with a dual core pentium chip and 4gb of RAM. Everything was working perfectly fine until I decided to upgrade to an i5 3570K and 8gb of RAM. I started seeing blue screens and the system was getting caught in boot loops so I figured I needed to upgrade the BIOS since the CPU was released AFTER my board was. The problem I'm facing is that every BIOS revision I've tried to use in the ASUS EZflash utility it keeps saying "This is not an EFI BIOS" …

Very recently, I let my laptop (HP) battery get too low, and it died on me. Usually, upon plugging in the adaptor, everything starts right back up again. However, this time, the laptop runs, but all I can see is a black screen. I can even hear the little chime when windows starts (vista), but all I can see is black. I don't think it's a backlight issue, as I the black screen still emits a sort of "glow". I know I need a new battery, but as long as it's plugged into the power supply, shouldn't it work fine? …

I'm curious because I'm new to the world of buying computer parts and such. I've installed an Asus model of the Nvidia 550ti and I was wondering if I should use the Nvidia drivers or the Asus drivers. both drivers seem to work with only slight differences in the multiple monitors settings. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guys, I have an Asus F5GL (X59GL) and my fan is pretty loud. It sounds like when it powers on its clipping something. Now I dont mind taking it out, giving it the once over and even replacing it if required. My issue is this: How the hell does it come out? I have been searching online for ages. The only guides I have found display the fan having a few screws and the top popping off... great! Mine isn't like this. Its situated towards the rear of the laptop, and after unscrewing doesnt want to budge. I'm worried …

Hi, Firstly, I have read the FAQ. My problem: I installed new pair of Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 kit (2 pcs.) ( Datasheet for it ) on my Asus P6T Deluxe mobo with i7 920 processor. Before upgrading I have not had any problems at all and now my computer will not power up at all. The fans don't spin up, only the mobo power switch and reset buttons are blinking with fast pace like flickering. Nothing else was touched during the install. I have tried reseting the CMOS by taking out the battery for few minutes. Oh and I …

Hi guys, I recently just built my first computer that I bought bundled on newegg and I must say, it was really fun building it. This computer is using a Phenom II Six-Core processor Black Edition(3.2 Ghz) mounted on the ASUS M4A88T-M LE motherboard that supports crossfire. Running on 8 gb of RAM and also running a 450w PSU that came with the Rosewill case/chassis. My question is, what is the best graphic/video card that I can run on this 450w PSU, I prefer ATI cards since my motherboard seems to work well with ATI cards or at least what …

Just few days ago, I got loads of problems with slow internet connection and sometimes it kicks me from the network, and I'm not able to connect to it again, I will have to restart my computer several times just to get the internet working for a half hour. I have solved problems with internal IP conflicts, giving my computer the IP: 192.168.1.10 For the looks of it, it seems like …

Are they reliable, is the customer service good, and those common questions asked about a brand. It also runs a 64-bit Windows 7. Is that good? :P Look forward to hearing opinions! :icon_cool:

I disassembled an Asus A7S-A1 2 nights ago for a BGA reflow. Following reflow I inserted a stick of RAM, had the heatsinks re-seated with fan, attached the power button to motherboard and then connected the battery to test if reflow attempt was succesfull... good so far but heres where it all went wrong, lastly I connected the display data/video cable to the board, and a faint pop then burning smell and now no power AT ALL, no post, nothing. Obviously I should have had everything connected AND THEN lastly the battery. Anyway thats where I am now. It wasn't …

I finished putting together an Asus P6T system last night and started it up. It started fine and went through several re-boots as it downloaded new drivers. I shut it off and now it won't start. The only thing I did this morning was to tie the power lines running to the CPU fan. They were loose and a little too close to the fan. The "Reset" and "Power" lights on the mother board are on. I've checked the power conectors a few times, turned the power supply on and off, unplugged and replugged it, and checked to see that …

This week I went to an annual press launch in London. Called PlayBite, it's not half as salacious as it sounds, just a group of companies that share the same PR company (also called Bite, you can see where they're going with this) exhibiting stuff. There were a few gadgets coming out - mostly 'same stuff as before only smaller and faster' (which is the trend after you reach a certain age in this game) - but the interesting thing for me was the number of new Netbooks on the market. One exhibitor in particular told me they weren't getting …

Asus might have lost the netbook war to Acer, but it is fighting back as far as the keyboard PC wars are concerned. With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) still a day away in Vegas, the geeky and gadgetry announcements are coming thick and fast. We've already got a taster of the new AMD Yukon platform and now we have the weirdest of wonderful concepts from Asus. The Eee Keyboard PC. Asus pretty much invented the whole netbook concept as we understand it today with the Eee PC, and for the longest time it sat pretty at the top of the netbook sales charts. The more astute reader might have noticed the past tense here, because Asus no longer rules the netbook roost it would seem. Indeed, according to the latest 'Quarterly Notebook PC Shipment and Forecast Report' from DisplaySearch which covers the growth of the portable computing market, things are changing pretty rapidly all round.
