I am trying to extract blogs related to economy using the RSS feeds in python. I have no idea how to get a specific number of blogs and how to get those blogs in a particular domain (like economy). My project requires analysing these blogs using NLP techniques, but I'm stuck in the first step and I don't know how to start.

The United Nations Global Pulse, along with analytics software specialist SAS, has revealed how social media streams can be used as predictors of national unemployment line spikes. By analysing more than half a million blogs, forums and news sites, the researchers were able to determine how social media chatter more specifically the 'conversation sentiment' expressed by it, could warn of pending unemployment increases as well as help to inform government policymakers of the likely impact of those increases. ![dwebglobalpulse](/attachments/small/0/dwebglobalpulse.jpg "align-right") The data analysed came from more than two years worth of social media streams in both the USA and Ireland, …

I am actualy here to seek some advice from those of you that own blogs and have SEO experiences. I have done some guest blogging becasue i thought that it will improve my own blog's page rank, but in this last page rank update, i have noticed no change. II have put some hard work in networking myself among guest blogging platform, such as blogsynergy.com. I have read in a black hat forum that this is worthless compared to just bulk link submitting. What do you guys think?

Last week I opened my Feedburner account to check the daily traffic statistics for my by Ron Miller blog. There was a link at the top of the page encouraging me to transfer my Feedburner account, which Google had purchased back in 2007, to my Google account. Seemed like a sensible thing to do since I have all my Google services under a single sign-on except Feedburner. It turned out it was a terrible idea. Since last Tuesday when I made the transfer I have not had site stats and my subscriber stats have been erratic. Google completely botched the …

I am beginning work on some micro-sites for a client who wants separate sites to focus on the top two verticals they target. I am using Wordpress to convert their existing blogs aimed at these verticals into micro-sites. Has anyone had any success or other experiences with micro-sites built from WordPress?

PCWorld announces new blog: LinuxLink. Wow, it's only taken PCWorld a mere 10 years to come up with this fantastic brainchild. I'm impressed. There's nothing quite like being on the leading edge of technological advances like Linux. I hope their rapid move in this obtuse new direction doesn't singe their nose hairs or scare off readers. I don't know, PCWorld guys, do you think you might be giving too much credence to this little niche OS? I mean--a whole blog? It sounds crazy and risky but it just might work. I have a few pointers for the PCWorld editorial staff …

If your company has a blog -- and it should -- you might what to have a look at Typepad Connect, a new way to bring the finer points of social networking right to your Web site. In the old days (meaning around 18 months ago) it used to be enough for a company to simply have a presence on the Web. A homepage with contact information was sufficient, and you were considered bleeding-edge if the company president was blogging. Nowadays, corporate blogging is de rigeur and social networking is the new advertising medium. Typepad, the hosted version of Six …

You have to give Japan-based IT company KAYAC Co., Ltd. points for creativity. Many IT-centric businesses have a tech worker bee or marketing guru maintain the company blog, but KAYAC handed the keyboard over to a Sweetheart Hoya. In case you're not a botanist, that's a rare and beautiful succulent plant native to Thailand and Indo China. Special sensors gather environmental data from the plant, named Midori-san, which records information such as humidity, temperature, and nearby human activity. The information is fed into a "plant interface system" that translates it into pre-written Japanese sentences and the occasional pun, which then …
