What are the requirements to take the CCNA test? I've purchased the book and I'll be spending a large majority of my time studying independently. I'm wondering though, is taking a CCNA course a prerequisite to taking the test or is it just recommended? Thanks!

Hi Guys! I want to seek advice on how to deploy a Firewall Appliance side-by-side with a cisco router. The topology is like this. Cisco Router -> Firewall Appliance -> VLAN SW. I have already created a transit link between the units. The firewall appliance can see the router interface but the cisco router received reply time out from the appliance. Thanks in advance!

Why do we need deny any when we are permitting the specific ip address? Isn't that ACL list has a hidden "deny all" statement? Thank you.

Well, I am making leaps and bounds in what I am learning in the area of IPSec VPN Tunnels. I do have a question, though that I hope I can get a simple answer for. I have 13 locations that I am trying to connect, which we can refer to as Coporate, and Loc1-Loc12. By 'connect' of course I mean with an IPSec Tunnel so that I can do things like simple file sharing between the subnets, VNC connections, etc. Our current setup looks like this: Loc1 has a subnet of 10.148.1.xx, and has one IPSec tunnel to the company …

Here's a fun problem for you geniuses who know SharePoint and networking. We upload videos to our SharePoint site. Regardless of the size, when we play it here at the corporate office, it will play about 20 seconds in and then reset to zero and you would have to refresh the page. If you try to download the file, it will race until 70% complete and the slow the F down and then (in Chrome) say "Failed - Network Error" and in IE it says "The [file name] download was interrupted." When downloading or watching videos outside of our network, …

Quick question. I'm studying for my CCNA and my supervisor gave me this challenge question. You're given 5x Cisco 3560's and 5x Cisco 3750's which are to be installed side-by-side on a rack. Which model would you choose to avoid issues with STP? I'm currently skimming over [this](http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/data_sheet_c78-584733.pdf). Thanks!!

At the same tim, area-278 should be able send succesfully RIP routes that we receive from R2 to backbone area.

We have been reading a lots of blog to do this but unfortunately we weren't able to make it work, or maybe we just dont know. We already got to the point that the UC did copied files from tftp …

I have spent weeks looking for a solution online but I have turned up with nothing. I am running Windows XP Professional (this has been tried on both service pack 2 and service pack 3) but every time I try to run the Cisco VPN client I get "Error 56: The Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service has not been started. Please start this service and try again" The obvious solution: Start the service. I do this from services but the service will not stay active. I sometimes get a message saying that it started then stopped and that some services …

We have a point to point connection going from a regional office to the main office this is provided by a Service Provider. In our office we have an ISP and what we need to prevent from happening is that if the internet drops from the ISP we could somehow re-direct the internet traffic through this point to point connection and make it so that our Internet connection is pulled from the main office. Is this possible, if so is any hardware needed? is it just a matter of re-configuring? please assist! Thank you.

Hi guys, I have a CISCO 5500 Firewall and it already has 2 networks connected: one connecting to the internet and the other one connecting my private network. I have now connected another network on one of the interfaces but I am unable to enable communication between the new network and the existing private network. I have tried following Cisco instructions on how to allow inter-interface traffic but so far I have been unsuccessful. Is it to do with NAT-ing or something? Kindly assist.

Hi, Since I starting dabbling in many areas of the tech world, I think I've lost some of the basic networking concepts I should already know. So I'm running into a problem: I came into a job with a network in place. After some issues, we had replaced some equipment to handle the users. Here's what we have so far: DSL modem -> Linksys E3000 -> 2X Access Points (Small business grade) The problem comes into play when a large amount of users join the network. When it's ~50 users, the network is ok, sometimes needs a reboot, but generally …

I read somewhere on the net that a loopback would be appropriate but having read up on a loopback it seems to only be on one reserved IP of 127.0.0.1 The single fixed IP I have been assigned is /32, I thought this leaves me with no space for hosts? What's going on here? I'm guessing it's something straight forward that I am ignorant of as I don't think i've covered what to do with a /32 thing. If anyone can help me by pointing me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it, this IS for an assignment but …
