Damage
? I doubt it. The physical memory would quickly run out, and then your pc would automatically free all the memory you allocated when you restart the pc or somehow close it.

In my knowledge and based on my experience, a faulty power supply may

damage
a good power supply. In your case, you can safely test your motherboard with a new power supply.

The answer is yes! There is only one RAID configuration in which a single disk failure causes all data loss... striping without parity or mirroring (RAID 0). It may be better to talk about the purpose for the RAID set. The only time I would employ RAID 0 is for something like a gaming computer where data loss is not a big deal, but performance …

Hi, It sounds as if you have a a hardware fault, could be disk or controller. First I would ensure all cables are seated correctly. Second connect disk to another ide/sata (you don't say what it is) port Third unplug all other hardware, including internal drives, in case psu is being overloaded. Forth put hard drive in external case and see if…

You could always just replace the PSU and run the system bare minimum (cpu, ram, video) and see if it all works. Then add the other add-on cards, drives, etc and see if it all works. It sounds like you'll have to replace the PSU anyway, so this would probably be a good way to do it. Either that or you could try your components in another system …

Well if you want your computer to run again i would suggest buying a new PSU and with the upgrade to an 8800 i would suggest a 750W especially with that AMD CPU. but the above post is correct. just start with the bare minimum and add stuff from there one piece at a time.

[QUOTE=InsightsDigital;998298]I do like your list. I also would add: 1. Not contributing to comments 2. The mentality of "Build and they will come" may not be true in social media. Yes, you can build it but you also need to make it alive. It is like getting a plant and not watering it.
