I am getting a very mysterious bug when I run my java website in Browser Mode: IE9 Compatibility View - the sessions stop working and I have no idea why. I don't think there is a tag or any code that I can include in my website that can force the client browser not to run in Compatibility View. I am using this tag to force the browser to pick the latest Document Mode though: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"> I am using this code for setting the session in my LoginController.java: import javax.servlet.http.*; HttpSession session = request.getSession(true); session.setAttribute("userObj", curr_user); and this …

I've been having a problem for (I'm guessing) a few months that I finally resolved and I'm posting it here as a warning. The problem occurs in Outlook 2003 but may also occur in later versions. **Symptoms** I'd start composing an email in Outlook 2003 and save it to the **Drafts** folder. I'd return to it some time later, make a few changes, then click **Send**. I only noticed a problem when someone replied and included the original message which was not what I sent, but instead the text from when I saved the first draft. After some experimenting I …

I need to programmatically set the Internet Explorer home page for all local users (no domain). Can this be accomplished via a batch file, through C#, or through some other method that does not involve a gui?

Maybe this is on the site already, but I'm going to ask directly. How do you guys/gals test your scripts or websites on all browsers for compatibilty. I'm new to this and would like to know. For the most part I've found that Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera do alright. But Internet Explorer is a pain in my neck sometimes. How do you test your code for older IE browsers?

I have a very basic 3 column page that I would like to have centered. In every other browser that I've tested, it works fine, however, in IE it gets aligned to the left. Can someone take a quick glance and see what I'm missing? Thank you!
/* CSS Document */ #container { margin: 0 auto; width: 1000px; background: #fff; } #header { background: #5A8CB3; padding: 20px; color: #FFFFFF; } #header h1 { margin: 0; } #navigation { float: left; width: 1000px; background: #D7E5F0; } #navigation ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; } #navigation ul li { list-style-type: none; …

Okay, so I am horrible with computers so this may be just an easy fix. For the past two days Internet Explorer keeps on starting on its own. It does not open to an actual website but in the search bar there are always random, incomplete urls (the most recent example: http://nskduikwwxzkok/). It's my laptop for class so it is unbelievably annoying. Please, please help me out.

Hi. I am looking at creating a small app which will gain access to and use the Internet Explorer DOM. I want to access the DOM of an existing instance of Internet Explorer. The app will be basic and simple, and will be first used to retieve properties of web page elements. My questions are, where do I start, what functions API's should I be looking at, bearing in mind that I intend to stay within the bounds of WIN32 (that is, if COM can be used within those bounds). My initial search was quite poor because of not knowing …

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. After a reinstall, I have installed XP Mode. However, with Windows Explorer (and other utilities that access files), I can see all the files in any folder, but as soon as I try to do anything with any file, the system crashes and reboots. It says an error code of 100007e. I AM running as an administrator. Any help appreciated.

I have these brackets I'm trying to apply to my site, but I'm running into some issues when viewing it in I.E. I'm sure it's something simple, but the teams and scores smush to the right, and the finals part of the bracket floats too far to the right as well. It's such a cool script, but I can't use it if it doesn't work in IE. The website I found it on does NOT have these issues, but I think I've emulated the code exactly. If anyone can help, that would be awesome. The original site is mentioned in …

I'm running Win XP (SP3) and I've noticed an irritating glitch in the last few months which I've finally solved, so I thought I would pass it on. It's pretty trivial, which is probably why I could find nothing for it. I've always set Explorer to open a folder in the same window, but suddenly it started opening a separate window, which might mean I had a dozen or so windows open when I was searching for something (for instance a photo I'd mislaid) I had a desultory try at solving it before, but I finally tried reversing the choice …

I've tried IE and Firefox and both the same. I can search for something and it will show me the results, however when I click on ANY of the links, it will not go to any of them. I need serious help with a website! It works fine with Safari, Google Chrome, and I spent a long time making it compatable for Firefox. But the website is completely differently in Internet Explorer. I am not having any luck at all with this one. If anyone could have a look and make suggestions as to what needs to be changed, it would be greatly appreciated. I am especially having problems changing the menu bar – none of my css corrections seem to have any affect. Here is a link to the website: www.vaudevillian.co.uk

I was just on the bus, minding my own business when I heard a magical phrase "he knew 2 dozen languages and numerous dialects"; I just had to speak up because there is only one person in history who could fit that phrase: My hero, Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton. He was an explorer, diplomat, linguist, author, translator - he was 6'4" tall, with broad shoulders, narrow hips, and had this wonderful scar on his cheek. Earlier this week my system was compromised with a virus similar to the Metropolitan police one. At the time I was connected to a German server because I was running a VPN. It was in German but I made out that it was supposedly a company called GEMA demanding 50 euros off me because I'd illegally downloaded music. I managed to access regedit when I booted in safe mode and then I modified my shell back to explorer.exe then accessed Avast to run a scan before the start up screen on the next boot. It found some viruses and I …
