Hi all, Ive been looking to convert one of my programs to include a GUI, and am having issues with the timing aspects of it. Ive included a mock scenario of what my problem is below: Ive defined my GUI as an object via a class, and am using the buttons to call other methods in the class. These methods used to use the time.sleep() function to wait a certain time before completing a task, and am now using the root.after method instead. However, once the button is pressed and the method with the delay is caused, (delay 10s), the …

After running Windows XP for far too many years, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. I built my PC around 5 years ago: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 667MHz RAM Western Digital Caviar 320GB HD OC GameXStream 600W Power Supply DFI Infinity 975X LGA 775 ATX Intel Motherboard Sapphire Radeon X1900XT 256MB PCI-E x16 Graphics Card I recently purchased a Western Digital 1TB hard drive to install my new operating system on. I've attempted to install this two different ways: 1. I boot my XP system, with the Windows 7 install disk in …

Hi, I need to educate the users that sometimes their computer crash/freeze/hang is due to their non-IT peripherals such as the USB fan, handphones, powerbank and etc. Anyone here came across any articles about such issues? Please provide me the link to the articles and I will share it with the users to let them know about the negative impacts it caused to their PC.

so i recently took a position managing a schools systems network, and one project I took over halfway was updating over 2000 machines. Fun right. Well a little over a week into this project Deep freeze throws me this error "Access violation at address 77bf334f in module "NTDLL.DLL". Read of address 00000004". so i close the program and reboot. The program would not see any of the computers. I let it sit for an hour hoping it was just taking a while rebuilding its list, with no love. I remotley started a lab because i needed to get work done …

First of all, I should say I'm brand new to PyGame and am pretty new to advanced Python. I'm trying to make a side-scrolling game but just making a sprite move back and forth with keyboard input is proving to be a problem. It appears that the loop is running really slowly, so when pygame.event.get() is called, it doesn't consistently "catch" any events, if that makes any sense. This is apparent when trying to close the window with the X button - it only closes if the button is clicked repeatedly. Here's the code: import pygame, sys from pygame.locals import …

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. For some odd reason, my computer will freeze sometime while my wireless radio is on, while I'm at my apartment. I have already ruled out a power, memory, or overheating issue. I reformatted and reinstalled XP, yet it still did it. If I disable the radio, my computer doesn't freeze. Also, it doesn't automatically freeze up as soon as I turn on the radio or connect to my network. Sometimes, it may last for awhile, while other times it may only take a minute or two. Just FYI, I am on the wireless network …

Hi all! I'll just list out what I've observed: -On switching on the system, I get no display and no beep. If I press the button again, it shuts off. I can switch it on and off n number of times and the only way to escape this is to press the reset button. Then the computer functions as it normally does. Then I turn it off and I have to go through the process above to make it work again. -The system freezes often and I get some sort of delayed response but again I have to press the …

Hi, I have no idea in which forum to post this. I run three similar web servers, all w2008R2 with IIS7. two of them only contain ASP / ASP.net sites running on MySQL. The third also contains Sharepoint 2010 with MSSQL server. This server has a problem that is does run non sharepoint sites, but only right after a iisreset. After a while, something seems to go to sleep, because if I do not visit a non SP site for several hours (I did not really time this), it never wakes up: The browser waits forever and I find nothing …

So I'm watching a video on Youtube one day, all of a sudden the video stopped but I still heard the audio for 3 seconds after, but then the audio stopped. I then closed the Internet Explorer window and tried to open it again, but it couldn't open. I tried restarting my computer, but my computer wouldn't let me click the start button. i tried clicking it a few times and then the bottom part of the browser (the part with the taskbar and start button.) turned white and i couldn't click on **ANYTHING** there. I then tried clicking on …

My computer seems to be freezing rather randomly. I can't see any reason that it should be freezing as a result of being overloaded, because I'm not doing anything to overly stress it (nothing that I haven't done tons of times before). For instance, I could just be browsing the internet. Furthermore, when it freezes, my regular tricks don't work. I can't open up the task manager and shut down the process I think is causing the problem. I also can't switch to the desktop or another window. Additionally: I'm not sure, but I think in each case I was …

Hey there, I've got a small problem. I'm writing an UDP client-server system, and I wanted to use streams with UDP. I found [UDPOutputStream](http://www.java2s.com/Code/Java/Network-Protocol/UDPOutputStream.htm) source and pasted it into my project. Now, when I try to initialize it, it freezes. This is how I try to initialize it: outStream = new UDPOutputStream(InetAddress.getByName(serverAddress), port); System.out.println("UDP streams initialized."); // Doesn't get called at all I opened the source and found out it's this line that freezes (inside the UDPOutputStream.java): dsock = new DatagramSocket(); Why does this happen? I use the same line of code in my server program, and it works just …

**I've done some reading on this, and tried a few things. (dont remember now, it's been so long.... and still a problem) I click the START menu. The first "stage" or "level" of default shortcuts pop up, along with any that I have created within the Start menu. At this point- it freezes, and for a long time. That is, anything that has another drop-down menu (next "level"/"stage") -- aint gonna happen anytime soon. Usually my repeat clicking results in an explorer window eventually opening. As you may know, sometimes the shortcut I'm seeking will be there- sometimes not. I'm …

I bought a video game over a service called Steam. The game was Garry's Mod. I was installing it, it was on for about an hour before it got to half way and I was doing work and talking to people since everything was stacked at the same time. I had on Internet Explorer and Skype. To give my computer an easier time, I turned off Explorer and then Skype. Then my XP (which I just got back from my repair guy) froze just as the latter was shutting down. I think the biggest mistake was choosing to hold down …

It's a common problem, there are a lot of google hits, but I could found no working solution. When I leave my computer on and don't use it, and I come back, first only the cursor works, and if I right click, that freezes too. After 1-5 min it recovers by itself. I disabled all power saving stuff, standby mode, hibernate, everything in task scheduler, and nothing yet worked. Please if anybody found something that is working, share it here! Thanks!

I've seen some older posts about getting application errors, and one of the later posts sounds like something i have but it wasn't answered/couldn't find it couple days ago i started getting the application errors with numbering like...0x1000116e..etc... and would have 'click ok to terminate' ; 'click cancel to debug'...but nothing would happen. I'm running windows xp, and this started just with IE and then started to happen with everything...eventually i wasn't able to open anything. I restarted my computer and it would load up to the "windows is loading" screen, get stuck there and then that same message would …

hi:) i'm writing a windows form program that controls 4 stepper motors, using visual studio express 2010, c++ i'm using a for loop that has to cycle for up to 1200 times. it works well enough but it's kinda slow and, when it's connected to my hardware and given more than 300...400 loops, it shows "not responding" until it reaches the end of the cycle. during this, it moves much faster. That speed would be allot better for my application, but i dunno how to control it. i'd like to know how to make my form program work properly when …

I recently received a used Toshiba Tecra 9000 from my brother. It has several problems, but I'm only bothered by one. I"ll list all the problems though. 1(the one that bothers me). I've been using Ubuntu Live to test/operate the computer, but recently (last two days) it has started freezing while loading the OS. If I pull out the AC power supply, partially remove the battery, or tap on the corner of the laptop over the battery, it will sometimes start loading for a few seconds. I have taken down, and re-assembled it a few times, and I'm pretty sure …

When I use the windows experience index test, my computer ALWAYS freezes when it gets to the CPU part. I have tried multiple times, and it always happens. So I decided to try another program. I did the 3dMarkVantage test, and the graphics tests did fine, the first CPU test finished, and when it moved to the second, my computer froze on the warm up. I have a core i7 860 @ 2.8GHz.

OK, so I just fresh installed Windows 7, and after it reboots (like twice) as part of the installation process, it prompted for my username, update settings, time zone, etc. Then every time after that, when it boots up, it can't get past the glowing windows logo. It just sits there glowing indefinitely. I've tried changing every setting in by BIOS to no end. Safe mode gets to "classpnp.sys" and stops loading. Boot logging leaves no actual log. Ive reinstalled it from the disc twice. I *think* it might have something to do with windows using the wrong drivers for …
