There are actually lots of good [alternatives to Publisher for Mac](http://machow2.com/publisher-for-mac/) including a free option called Scribus. I would suggest Quark Express for the kind of work that you'd nrmally do in Publisher. I've yrid it for graphic design and it's actually very good. Hope this helps you. I played with it the other day at the Mac store and I found many of the same features from Publisher 2000.
