Remember when once upon a time all you had to do to start Windows in safe mode was go all Woody Woodpecker on the F8 key during boot? Well in Windows 10 it seems you have to do just a little more... 1. On the login screen click on the power icon (lower right) then hold the shift key while clicking "Restart" from the popup menu. 1. During the reboot you will get a "Choose an option" menu. Click on "Troubleshoot". 1. On the next menu click on "Advanced options". 1. On the next menu click on "Startup Settings". 1. …

Hello Community, I was starting up a paid service and I was going to add a payment method using internet transfers but I just wanted to make sure if giving out bank details (BSB & Account Number) was safe? Could someone steal from me if they had those numbers?

Hi. I have a very old computer at my job. It will not boot up except for safe mode with networking. Suprisingly I like it better in this mode because it is 100 times faster. I do not know if it is plagued with viruses or has had a crash. Unfortunately, I can not print in safe mode. So I either need to be able to print in safe mode or get it back to booting up normaally. PLEASE HELP!!!

I googled little around for correct way to not reinventing of the wheel for expression evaluation (even I had done some simple evaluation check for my [Tkinter calculator snippet](http://www.daniweb.com/software-development/python/code/282548/simple-calculator) earlier). After getting totally upset with [this example](http://www.bestcode.com/html/evaluate_math_expressions_pyth.html), I made this with some struggles with `__builtins__` globals parameter of eval. First I kept the dictionary of variables approach, then I turned to keyword parameters, the format is so much nicer. To put some topping, I put `__call__` also as synonym for evaluation. That means you can call the class as functions and give any values of variables as keyword parameters. See …

When I start my computer, the Start up Screen (Loading Screen) comes up and loads normally. Before showing up the Log in Screen, the computer automatically restarts. I started the Windows again but the error is not gone. I have: Windows XP Home Professional Service Pack 3 Pentium 4 494 MB RAM Company: LG (Pakistan) What I did: I read several articles and they said press F2 or F8 on start up and you should see an option "disable automatic restart on failure", but that didn't even work and a blue screen came showing up that Windows is already shut …

Hi, I ran across something I've not seen before, and that is an older thinkpad that was manufactured for business travelers, running XP, that has a fingerprint scanner built into it. While the scanner itself is turned off (the owner is afraid of using it; he works with metal and is afraid that the small cuts he gets occasionally will change his fingerprint), the what appears to be the associated security program scans the computer at start-up, usually just taking a couple minutes. However, in repeated attempts to boot into safe mode, said security program ran forever, and even after …

Hello, Earlier today my laptop was taken out by a virus, possibly a parasite. There had been a few errors thoughout the day, my laptop is well maintained but I didnt think anything of the messages and I am usually capable of fixing a problem. The browser crashed, and I shut the machine off, when it re-booted it went to safe mode. A window marked 'Windows Safe Mode' popped up after the log in screen, and it proclaimed that my hard drive had failed, and there was massive data loss etc.. I figured this was a ploy, so I tried …
