My applet creates a new sound every time an impact occurs, which is very frequently. How come, when the sounds become too numerous, the game ceases to run smoothly? Here is the code that gets called many, many times: class soundThread extends Thread { String sound; soundThread(String i_sound) { sound = i_sound; } public void run() { try{ URL path = new URL(getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation(), sound+".wav"); AudioClip clip = Applet.newAudioClip(path); //checkpoint A clip.play(); //checkpoint B }catch(Exception e){System.err.println("err= soundThread_error");e.printStackTrace();} } } The longest pause occurs at `clip.play();`. Any clue why it would take so long to play the clip? And how can I …

Hello everybody, I have an application for the iphone. When I go into a view, it is supposed to play a sound on repeat until I exit the view. This works fine the first time. The second (and subsequent) times the sound is played numerous times overlapping each other (two sounds on the second, 3 on the 3rd ... etc). When I exit the view, it only stops one of the sounds playing It is being played in the ViewDidLoad method (which is only being called once each time). I rekon everytime I load the view it adds another of …

I'm trying to get sounds to play from python. I've tried Winsound, snack, and now Pygame. Winsound only seemed to play windows preset sounds (which aren't so useful), snack did nothing, and Pygame is raising a memory error on a 2 second mp3. Is there something obvious I missed in any of these or are they just not so great. any help would be appreciated.

HELP ME! I'm a college student and use my computer ALL of the time. All of a sudden this thing called Relevant Knowledge started popping up on my computer. I wanted to get rid of it, so I stupidly clicked the button that said stop receiving these messages or something like that. I have Symantec Antivirus but it isn't picking anything up. I tried deleting Relevant Knowledge from my computer, but it says "Cannot delete rlls.dll: Access is Denied." Right now, I'm running my computer in Safe Mode with Networking because that's the only way that I can be on …

Just because I was bored one day I looked on the net for an app that would let me use my RockBand ps3 drum kit on the PC. There was a fancy direct X app out that turned out to be very buggy, slow, and annoying to use. I set out to write my own and within 40 minutes I had a simple working system. But I ran into a problem with sound quality and speed. I need to be able to load the sound clips into memory, so not to read the files from the disk a million times. …

I needed a way to buffer into memory an entire wav sound file to be played back a moments notice, as if for a game. So i created this class, simple instantiate it by passing to it a string and a bool indicating if you should buffer it to memory. after that you just call its play method whenever you need it and the windows api automatically handles async playback. Sadly, It works just shy of how well I need it to for my purpose. but it does work very well. I'm not very good with clean up code, I …
