Who Rules the world?
That may seem like an odd question since every country has its own government or dictatorship; though in reality technology rules the world; and geeks rule technology. A fellow colleague Davey blogged about how iTunes the beloved one stop world-wide music store threatened to close their virtual doors if music Royalties were raised, music royalties were not raised. Let s say Microsoft announced it was going to stop producing new Operating Systems and patches for previous Operating systems, the world would go into panic. that's purely a fictitious example showing how much power Geeks have.
Why do Geeks have so much power?
Let’s face it Geeks think differently; an ordinary person could be looking at the ocean and watching the waves while a geek could be looking at the ocean thinking how they could replicate the wave’s effects in 3d.
I witnessed how much geek power the ordinary Joe relies on in everyday life. I was at a large store when the power went out shutting down all cash registers and security cameras; The place was pitch black and it took about 5 minutes before someone turned on the generators. Since I am a geek I created light within seconds; I took a Halloween toy that projects images onto the ceiling turned it on and instantly my aisle had light.
For approximately 5 minutes the store had limited security, and could not sell any products; if that doesn’t show how much power has been given to geeks then I don’t know what does.
So you’re saying the Government has no power?
Heck No, the government still has all of its power; though sometimes they may have to decide to raise music royalties or take the chance of losing one of their major sources for music that a majority of the world relies on.
All in all the Government has the final say; large companies run by geeks just influence their say.
