I don't think people should be lumping web design with HTML and CSS anymore. Design should be separate from coding. Design is typography, layout, color theory, illustration, digital manipulation, etc. It should really be it's own section and not grouped under web development.

Anyway, just saying. =)

Web Design is NOT html and CSS

It's always been HTML and CSS. Without it how can any website function?

Html and css should be part of coding or development. If I design a house, I would be an architect. The people who build it would be construction workers or engineers. There is a difference.

I assume you are using AutoCad? Then what is the difference from an architect or construction workers or engineers most but all of them used the same software or something similiar. They all need a blue print. Same a Web Design it's HTML and CSS. The term they used nowaday is called Website Architecture. I hope this is what your are referring too. I'm a bit confused what you are trying to get here.

Sorry. I don't mean to make you crazy. Lol. I am trying to say that web design should have its own category. An architect and an engineer may use the same software but their fields are different. Somehow in the beginning, web design encompassed graphic design and development into one. Design and development are two totally separate things. If a developer can use photoshop, it doesn't make that person a designer. A painter that uses a wrench probably isn't a mechanic.

I assume that the reason for your post is that you were commenting that web design should not be in the same category as web development on this forum site.

Of course, your point is taken in general as well. Not sure if this us what you meant. I suspect that your message is not being interpreted in that manner.

Yes. That's what I meant. I probably should have stated that more clearly in the beginning.

Don't worry, the new generation of 'designers' just download a template from ThemeForest and call it a day. I am shocked to see how incompetent some so called web designers are, they have almost no clue about creating a design, they just change few colors and a lousy logo. It amuses me to see web design companies with template websites, not to mention hearing SEO 'specialists' who ask in forums if they need the client's website password to do SEO. No, you don't need it. It's done automatically by osmosis :D
