Hey guys! I thought this might be a good way to get to know each other's hobbies and interests. Any fun projects you're currently working on for fun on the side? (Let's please not turn this into a spam fest. Please avoid promoting or talking about your company/website.)

Sorry, I don't get it. We the people honk?

Ooooh. Honk your car for support. Got it! The goose threw me off. I didn't think of a car honk. (I probably would have made the connection if I was on the road at the time, though.) I blame it on the fact that I don't drive anymore due to my poor health.

Anyone who lives near where geese congregate got the "honk" reference. We have friends who once bought a house on a retention pond. One goose - not a problem. Hundreds of geese honking all day and night - major headaches.

Children of the night. SHUT UP.

No major projects but I am currently rewriting a vb.net book app I wrote years ago. I'm converting to Python/wxPython. It's too difficult keeping track of the hundreds and hundreds of books my wife and I have read using just pencil and paper.

I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

I'll post the code with lots of comments when I get it done.

I'm going to be using sqlite3 as the back end. I just finished reading From SQL to SQLModel: A Cleaner Way to Work with Databases in Python and I was boggled at how anyone thinks that adding a bunch of external dependencies (several Python libraries) and layer upon layer of abstractions makes anything cleaner. I don't plan on spending weeks learning all the associated methods and properties when I could easily encapsulate the SQL calls in my own functions to add/modify/delete.

I'm building an app that helps drivers estimate total delivery time for all picked parcels, based on distance. Not sure if something like this already exists.

I'd be very surprised if Amazon and the other big courier firms don't already have this.

Dani and others offered suggested changes and this is what the result is. Mary approved this design. The print is 24x18 inches or Arch C.

That makes a lot more sense to me. Honk for <something> is much clearer in the context of a protest sign on the side of the road.
