How do I boot UBUNTU from the cd drive to over ride Windows XP
on the c drive?

You might need to change your BIOS settings to configure your computer to boot from your CD drive. Usually when you start up your computer it says something like "Hit Del or F1 to enter setup", and at that point you enter the key. Look for something like "boot priority", and move your CD drive to the top. Then insert your Ubuntu CD into the drive and reboot.
