Practical, focused guidance related to 's AOL publishing problem and the follow-up points from and .

Common preparation and publishing checklist:

  1. Gather a single site folder with an entry page named index.html and all assets (images, CSS, scripts) in predictable subfolders.
  2. Verify the site locally by opening index.html in a browser; fix broken links or missing files before upload.
  3. Determine how the AOL tool publishes: does it use automatic upload tied to the AOL client, or does it ask for FTP/SFTP credentials? If FTP is required, the host, username, password and target folder are needed.
  4. If the wizard fails, upload the same folder with a standalone FTP client (many free clients exist) so upload behavior can be isolated from the AOL tool.
  5. Confirm that the server shows the uploaded index.html at the expected URL after upload.

Notes about Java applets and compatibility: applets depend on a Java plugin that modern browsers no longer support. For troubleshooting, run the applet with the JDK's appletviewer or on a legacy Java-enabled environment to confirm the applet itself works. If the applet needs privileged access, the JAR must be signed and referenced from the same server (correct codebase/path). Given current browser trends, consider replacing applet functionality with HTML5/JavaScript or a small server-side component.

Clarification on images: 's warning is overstated — photographs are not automatically illegal, but using someone else's image can violate copyright or privacy/portrait rights. Use original photos or properly licensed stock images (check license terms) to avoid problems. Useful diagnostics for precise help: operating system, browser and version, which design tool is being used, and whether FTP credentials are available.

It has to look good and lively and pictures that contain people is illegal unless you own it!!

But thanks for coming by.

You'll need to give us some more information than that answer the following questions and you may get a few more answers.

1. What type of computer do you have?
2. What Operating System do you have?
3. Which programme do you have on your computer for designing pages? or what web based programme are you trying to use?

4. What experiance do you have? for instance would you know what I was saying if I told you to place the Javascript txt above the <Body> Tag?
