Can anyone tell me what is going on if my computer freezes on the POST startup. My compaq Persario froze on the compaq screen and would not go any farther this morning. I left it for about 30 minutes with no change on the screen.

Are you able to get into the BIOS?
There are no beeps as there is no speaker in the computer case. there were no steps completed
I was not able to get into the BIOS
How about trying to run with a single stick of ram at a time.
Also if all sticks have the same result, try to boot up without a hd drive, with a live cd or something like that and see if that will allow you start up.
how about making sure the cpu fan in not plugged full of dust and overheating
