I have found that using Sony's Vegas Movie Studio +DVD was a real wise choice. There is tremendous support in the forums, two of which are Creative Cow and DMN or Digitalmedianet. The knowledge and experience of these guys is incredible. For beginning videographers what a great help.
My partner and were hard on the trail of the elusive 10 to 20 minute video promo client. Most people assume that it will cost them 1000 per finished minute. Of course that is the line that the highend (companies) would have you believe.
We completed a video of the Colorado Division of Wildlife with the Denver Metro Chapter of Pheasants Forever just last week. They teamed up to put on a YOUTH HUNT. Very successful. We expended two days of actual video taping time and then I spent 30 hours editing.
I am biased but I think we did a darn good job. The video is 21 minutes long and gives every child who participated a visual record of the whole event.
Now to getting them distributed for other chapters to see.
