Symptoms in addition to the error message(popups every second of the day) posted above, the computer has slowed down a lot, when I use google to search for anything, it provides links to porn, gambling sites etc...Thanks in advance for your assistance. Also, in the middle of the website, it says "Your browser has been hijacked"...if I were to click...it sends me to a porn site. Please help!

Ok, so i had this EXACT problem from a little "anti-spyware" spyware program called WinAntiSpyware (or something like that)...

I tried HiJack This, VundoBat, etc...to no avail.

Finally, I did what I should have done in the first place and just did a system restore point to a day before i got the virus. And voila! It was fixed.

Hope this info helps...

Try downloading avg anti virus 7.5 free and avg anti spyware free. AVG and Comondo are the two best free programs for protecting your pc.

Thanks for the reply...but as i said...i used AVG also.

re-reading your symptoms, i am CONVINCED it's the same thing i had...

have you tried the restore point?

Restoring the computer never worked!

Ok, so sorry this took a while to reply, but i've been busy.

Basically, if this is indeed the same thing I had, you have some browser hijacking and other stuff going on... If the system restore point did not work, you have one (as i see it) option left, that should work. However, this may take a little time, so grab a coke and get comfy. I had to do this as well as the restore point, but everything works fantastic now, so hopefully it will for you, too.

First, I would download this little program called VundoFix. You can download it here.

Follow the instructions on the download site, and when it reboots your computer, you should be partially, if not fully, fixed.

If your problem is like mine, however, you have to go a bit deeper. Next, run another HiJackThis log and save it to your computer.

This is where it becomes time consuming. I am not a complete expert in .dll files or the deepest darkest things of the computer, so I had to use my handy friend, Google, for a lot of this. Scan you log and pick out the things that you are not familiar with, or whose description/name does not contain any system/known software on your computer.

Now, google the exact file. Chances are, most will come up as some type of system file, but occasionally you will have one that is a known trojan/virus. If you have any files that, after researching fully, are known to be bad, delete them. This should completely fix your problem.

One more step, though. This is easy. In fact, you might already have done it, but judging from your problem, I don't think you have. Download FIREFOX and place it as your default browser. This will keep you virus/trojan free.

Hope everything works! Please keep me updated and feel free to send me a private message with any more questions.
