first of all, i woud like to say hello to everybody.
As Moderator of a satellite forum I do have some knowledge about encryption systems but on pure Windows/viruses/Trojans etc I'm a bit of a DUMB! :-|
before postig this message I want to make clear that i have read all the possible related 3ds on this forum and tried already several steps (tell you in a second) which unfortunately seems not to have helped.
Well lets come to the point, I too am effected by this stupid error message when starting up my Pc "Dxsetu.exe"... BLAH BLAH!
What I have tried so far (with no success)is:
- runned Ad-Aware SE and removed all what needed to be removed
- Runned Spybot and done the same in removing
I have installed the program hijackthis, but before putting the log wuold like to see if this is possible and (most likely) needed.
Anyone can help?
Thanks in advance.

This thread documents a very typical cleanup: a startup error caused by a dropped Trojan (likely introduced via an illicit/cracked install), followed by targeted removal and rescan. The combination of ’s Safe‑Mode removal advice and ’s msconfig/startup checks produced the expected result for — the noisy boot error disappeared and performance improved. That workflow (identify → isolate → remove → verify) is the right high‑level approach.
Practical post‑clean checklist to reduce chance of leftovers and reinfection:
- Run at least two up‑to‑date scanners (an on‑access AV plus a different on‑demand anti‑malware engine) and follow up with a bootable rescue scan from a reputable vendor.
- Inspect persistence points with a startup utility (services, scheduled tasks, Run/RunOnce and AppInit_DLLs). If an AppInit_DLLs entry belongs to your AV it’s usually benign; unknown DLLs need investigation.
- Reset the network stack if sockets behaved oddly:
netsh winsock resetandnetsh int ip reset(then reboot). - Disable System Restore, delete old restore points (malware often hides there), complete the cleanup, then re‑enable Restore.
- Empty all Temp folders and check the hosts file and browser search/home settings for hijacks.
Cautions and recovery tips: export/backup any registry keys before editing and take a disk image or full backup first. Change online passwords entered while the machine was infected. If any suspicious services or drivers remain, a clean OS reinstall from known‑good media is the safest final step.
Prevention: avoid cracked software, run standard user accounts for daily work, keep OS and security tools updated, and keep a rescue USB and current logs (HijackThis/Autoruns) handy for future incidents.

you are running msconfig in /auto mode which means that you may have selectively removed some items in the past from the startup procedure. This can be bad if they are malware, so we would like you to reenable those startup entries by doing the following:
Please click on start, then run, and type msconfig and then press enter. When the window opens click on the startup tab and make sure there are checkmarks in every entry. Then press ok until you are out of the program. If it asks to reboot, do not reboot.
Now please create a new Hijackthis Log and post it as a reply.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

The Experts say that Hijackthis doesn't work up to snuff if Internet Explorer is open when you run the scan ,this shows you have not closed all browser windows when you ran the scan [C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
],
I would suggest you fix the ones Chrunchies said in his reply ,if they came back and empty the temp folder .Nothing should be running from a temp folder .

Also when i do a search for info on this one ,[O20 - AppInit_DLLs: PAVWAIT.DLL]this is what the Experts say about it ..fixing is up to you I quwss .,,,,,,,,,

Now what is this GREEN color for you might think.... well, Crackloc is not really spyware, but the program is for "cracking"
programs you have downloaded in time-limited trial-versions. I cannot support that kind of cheats
Agreed Caperjack. :)
Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

m8s thanx for your help and support.
I have followed your instructions and runned againg a LOG in HJT.
Below you can find copy. This time at start I didn't get any error message in "winsock or dxsetu" and my Pc is now running also faster.
Maybe you could tell me from the log if you see still something wrong.
