my computer is destroying itself. spysheriff is all over the place, eetu.exe is sucking a good amount of memory. i have new icons on my desktop every day. new toolbars, AURORA! winstall?
our copy of stopzilla recently stopped working, and we have the worst spyware scanners ever. possibly? spybot? spysweeper? they catch nothing.
every problem i looked up so far involves this "Hijack This" which i have never heard of. so my first step of course was to get that.

now, sadly...i really must be walked through this entire process. i know less about computers than a 9 year old. (which really isn't that tough)

i assume i'll have to get the log thing copied onto here. but, believe me, i'll be checking back often. i'm gonna try and find out how to use hijack this, now.

please please please help me here! i see individual threads about all of the problems i have. all of them. they've all compounded and tried to drive my computer into the ground! the family computer!

i'm going through and trying to clean up what i can. i just recently did a scan with Avast. and when i rebooted... it said that it can no longer find the file Nail.exe. at all.

is this a bad thing that i don't even have it? if it is... how would i get it back? or a new shiney one.

... is this a bad thing that i don't even have it? if it is... how would i get it back? or a new shiney one.

Oh no, you definitley don't want it back- nail.exe is a component of the Aurora infection.

The error regarding nail.exe is due to a partial removal of the Aurora infection which left "dangling reference" to the nail.exe file in particular.

Please do as dlh6213 suggested in terms of posting a new HijackThis log.
Doing so will give us a pretty good idea of what progress the removal steps you've already taken have made, and what further work we need to do.

Also- please do keep all of your questions/responses/etc in this thread. We (the moderators) honestly just don't have time to track the multiple threads you've started on this problem and things related to it.

Thanks.

yea, definetly sorry about the multiple thread thing. i was in a bit of a panic. i hope my recent thread about the recycle bin problem was ok, though.

i'll have a recent log up a bit later
