I am afraid I have that exact same virus I've seen discussed here, system32\SKYNETlog.dat (Trojan.Agent) on my computer!
I looked at hijack this and combofix, and I'm wondering if someone can help me with this crazy bug !
The symptoms: basically every time i click on my google search results, it will take me to a variety of websites, except for the one I was trying to go to !
It showed up after I accidentally clicked on it, thinking it was my AV.

Hi and welcome to the Daniweb forums :).

Exactly what have you done? Have you deleted any entries in hijackthis? If so, please restore them and do another scan.
Have you run combofix? How many times? Post all logs from combofix if you have run it.
Why do you have no 04 entries in the hijackthis log?

I am afraid I have that exact same virus I've seen discussed here, system32\SKYNETlog.dat (Trojan.Agent) on my computer! I looked at hijack this and combofix,

First of all, How do you know that THIS is the exact same infection? I don't see any logs that say that. All I see is a HiJackThis log that is very odd. There are no start up programs listed there. Do you not have any programs which start up with the computer? Do you start them all manually? If you have turned them all off using msconfig please go back in there and allow them all to start up. I hope you HAVE not run combofix without being told to do so. If you had read all posts concerning this program you would have seen the following warning;

You should not run ComboFix unless you are specifically asked to by a helper. Also, due to the power of this tool it is strongly advised that you do not attempt to act upon any of the information displayed by ComboFix without supervision from someone who has been properly trained. If you do so, it may lead to problems with the normal functionality of your computer.

IF you HAVE run combofix, even without being told to do so can you please post the log?

Do the following:
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) to your Desktop.

* DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.

Reboot the computer.

Please Run the ESET Online Scanner and attach the ScanLog with your post for assistance.

* You will need to use Internet Explorer to to complete this scan.
* You will need to temporarily Disable your current Anti-virus program.

* Be sure the option to Remove found threats is checked and the option to Scan unwanted applications is Checked.
* When you have completed that scan, a scanlog ought to have been created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please post that log for us as directed below.

Reboot the computer.

Run a scan with HiJackThis and post back with that log, the MBA-M log and the ESET log.

IF you DID run combofix, even WITHOUT instruction to do so, we need to see that log ASAP.

Sorry Crunchie, didn't "see" you there.

Why do you have no 04 entries in the hijackthis log?

Hi and thank you,

I haven't deleted any entries in hijack this. And I haven't downloaded or ran combofix.
I did shut down all the startup processes. I dont know why I dont have any 04 entries.

I did shut down all the startup processes. I dont know why I dont have any 04 entries.

That's why you don't have any O4 entries, they are the start ups. Turn them back on. that's a way to help see what is going on there. Plus, some of those you turned off may really be needed. I have never seen a computer with NO start ups.

Try another antivirus like net protector,Kaspersky and try a utility called "sdat" of Mcafe av.Download latest version of sdat from mcafee website and run that sdat from comand prompt.

I haven't run ComboFix, thanks for the caution. I am sorry about the delay. I did have all my start-ups turned off through a program called Ccleaner, I have turned them back on and restarted.
Here are the logs you requested 1st) MBA-M log 2nd) ESET log 3rd) hijack this log

You need to note that the infections found were found in files actually downloaded by you using P2P sharing. This points out the real dangers in this type of activity. It is ALWAYS very risky.
I see Limewire and uTorrent for certain on the computer. Continue with this type of activity and your risks will continue, even though this time the files have been removed.
Because this fact makes it a real possibility of other infections still on the machine I would like you to run Combofix and post the log.
Follow these instructions EXACTLY.

You will get a prompt asking if you want to run or save the file. Choose SAVE and save it to the desk top. DO NOT RUN it YET
You will get a prompt asking if you want to run or save the file. Choose SAVE and save it to the desk top. DO NOT RUN it YET
You must take some preventative measures so that there are no conflicts with other programs when running ComboFix. At this point you should do the following:

* Close all open Windows including this one.
* Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.

Once these two steps have been completed, double-click on the ComboFix icon found on your desktop. Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.
Windows may issue a prompt because ComboFix does not have a digital signature. This is perfectly normal and safe and you can click on the Run button to continue.
ComboFix is now preparing to run and when it has finished you will see the Disclaimer screen you should press the number 1 key and then press the enter key to continue.
ComboFix will create a System Restore point so that if any problems occur while using the program you can restore back to your previous configuration. When ComboFix has finished creating the restore point, it will then backup your Windows Registry.
Once the Windows Registry has finished being backed up, ComboFix will disconnect your computer from the Internet. Therefore, do not be surprised or concerned if you receive any warnings stating that you are no longer on the Internet as your connection will be completely restored at a later stage in the program.

ComboFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.
While the program is scanning your computer, it will change your clock format, so do not be concerned when you see this happen. When ComboFix is finished it will restore your clock settings to what they were previously. You will also see the text in the ComboFix window being updated as it goes through the various stages of its scan.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report
This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
When ComboFix has finished, it will automatically close the program and change your clock back to its original format. It will then display the log file automatically
You should now post this log here when all is complete.
