Every I conduct a search for something using Google, I get the true results listed but when I click on the result I am redirected to a page on Virus software, travel sites or something similar. I can open the results if I right click the link and get it to open in a new tab.

Additionally, unless I run IE8 on Admin Mode for Vista, I continually crash.

I have run McAfee and gotten 300+ instances of Virnut.n.gen repaired and had 7 instances of Artemis! quarantined.

Obviously you have an assortment of infections, you can get rid of the redirecting issue and quite possibly fix the IE crashes by running a full scan with MalwareBytes anti malware. I've found that mcAfee has issues finding all infections and their firewall is unreliable. MB A-M should get rid of the majority leaving you back in control of your computer just make sure that you disable mcAfee before you run the full scan and delete the infections. I would recommend finding a new antivirus program too, if your like me and got mcAfee for free and don't want to spend spend any money on one I would recommend Comodo internet security - free version
