Hello Tech Saavy people, I tip my hat to you all. Please help me, I have never been so desperate in my life. I'm getting married in a month, and all the wedding details are on my computer......and this is the moment it chooses to act up on me.....(well I probably did something thats why)

My internet is eeeexxxxtremely slow...its unbelievable. I have tried adaware and Spybot but that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Everything else on the computer seems to work fine, I was able to burn cd's and all. Its the internet that is depressing. I thought for a sec that it may be my newly installed wireless pci card (it began to fade in and out after the internet began to slow down), but the properties tell me that the signal strength is good and that the device is working properly.

Please help me... I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my computer running....and plus I'd have to figure out what to say to my fiancee

Just off hand it seems like you have a lot of auto run web applications
things like google bar/mail notifier
kazzaa
weather bug
lots of mesenging services
lots of stuff
if you look through and remove what you don't use
and then cut back on a lot of things that you don't use all the time to just take them out of start up
depending on your connection that could do it


it would also help if you closed down a lot of applications before you ran hijackthis
the logs are already kind of a pain to look through

side note
some stuff like google toolbar if you didn't install it could be a trojan
lot of trojans go under the names of common applications and thers no way to tell from the log unless you know that you never set that up

Thank you all for the input

I fragmented my hard drives, cleared up the temp files, created more space on the hard drives, ran Norton Anti Virus, adaware, spybot, cleared out most of the programs in my startup (left only the essentials).......yet the computer hasn't changed.

Something I've noticed is that when I wake up in the morning and boot it, I am able to access the net at a reasonable speed (yet not as fast as normal) but as time goes on, it gets slower and slower to the point where it takes a minute to load a page(sometimes more)

Please do you have anymore thoughts for me?
