"is not a valid win32 application" Solved

I kept getting the message "###.exe is not a valid win32 application" while trying to install several downloads. This went on for two days. Searching the internet gave no workable solution with one exception. Someone advised checking the attributes of the downloaded files. Doing so revealed the file size of those troublesome downloads was zero (0). Someone had reset the Security Settings for the Internet zone. I reset to the default. Downloaded several .exe files after configuring Firefox download location and programs were successfully installed. No more "is not a valid win32 application".
