A focused, practical plan to diagnose intermittent connectivity and system slowness based on the log and replies already posted by and the initial guidance from . The priority is to determine whether the problem is caused by malware, a background application monopolizing networking/CPU, or ordinary resource/Disk I/O issues—and to gather clean evidence before making major changes.

Start safely and gather facts. Make a full backup or disk image, then isolate the PC from the network to avoid further compromise. Use a modern process/autorun viewer to identify nonstandard startup items and live connections (for example, Process Explorer, Autoruns and TCPView). Look for processes that hold sockets or high CPU; a quick check with netstat -ano mapped to running PIDs is very useful. Run up-to-date anti‑malware scans offline where possible (for example, Malwarebytes) before allowing the machine back online.

Network checks to perform next: verify browser proxy and system DNS/hosts entries, flush the resolver cache with ipconfig /flushdns, and test connectivity from a known-good environment (boot a clean live CD/USB or another machine on the same network). If the link is stable from another machine, the fault is local; if all machines show trouble, inspect the router/ISP.

If local development servers and databases are slow, profile resource usage during the slowdown: CPU, memory, disk queue length, and network. Check database logs and indexes, exclude development folders from real‑time AV scans while troubleshooting, and confirm server JVM or service memory settings if Java-based services are present. Free disk space, run a disk health check, and consider defragmentation or migrating to a supported OS if the system is very old.

If uncertainty remains after these steps, capture a fresh diagnostic set (process listing, autoruns snapshot, and a new HijackThis-style log) and proceed from there. Recommended tools: the Sysinternals suite for inspection and Malwarebytes for remediation.
