About:blank and c:\searchpage.html keep popping up as my new homepage, regardless of what I do. I am not sure if they are one and the same or not.

I am using Windows XP pro w/ service pack 1a. I ran norton anti-virus, spybot, and then Hijackthis. I deleted two registry change files from spybot and found/deleted one virus in Norton. I've read the other posts on this subject and tried to follow along, but I am too "computer challanged" to understand what to do from here.

Below is my logfile from Hijackthi, please advise.

Thank you in advance,
Scott

Hi :D . Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder & not on the desktop). Close all (browser) windows & have HJT fix these entries by placing a check in the appropriate box= (You MUST be offline & stay offline until done)

Reboot & navigate to & delete this file=
C:\WINDOWS\System32\fmpcka.dll< this one

Reboot & set your home page.

Note that this is a new variant of CWS & very difficult to remove. You may find that the name of the dll file has changed when you go to delete it in the system folder.

This problem has been covered quite thoroughly in this thread. The user never reported back as to whether it solved his problem, though. Check it out.

Here's what should be removed:
