Hello, really need some help with trying to fix a virus. I am unable to open My Documents, Control Panel, My Computer, Zip Files, Or Internet Explorer (when I click on them the toolbar and icons dissapear and only shows the background) . Also when I type on web pages the cursor kind of moves around as in it jumps ahead a character or behind while im typing making a word such as "word" type out like "wrod".

Any help would be appreciated, I'm currently scanning my computer on Trend Micro, I attempted to down load their trial version but it says I have to delete Zone Alarm first (which is my virus protection)..

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

* If you can post the results of the Trend scan, that would be helpful. Also, please do the following if possible; you may have to download on another machine and copy things to the infected machine via CD or floppy):

* Download the (free) HijackThis utility. Once downloaded, follow these instructions to install and run the program:

- Create a folder for HJT outside of any Temp/Temporary folders and move the HijackThis.exe file to that folder now. A folder such such as C:\HijackThis or C:\Spyware Tools\HijackThis will do.
- Run HijackThis, but do not have HJT fix anything yet; only have it scan your system! Once the scan is complete, the "Scan" button will turn into an option to "Save log...".
- Save the log in the folder you created for HijackThis; the saved file will be named "hijackthis.log".
- Open the log file with Windows Notepad, and cut-n-paste the entire contents of the Notepad file here.

The log contents will tell us a lot about what "nasties" have crept into your system, and once we analyse the log we can tell you what to do from there.

.

Okay.. so I don't mean to butt in here, but with the exception of the cursor issues while typing, I'm having the exact same problem as the previous person, and I didn't see the point in starting a new thread for the same problem. I've run adaware, ewido, and avast. And to my "suprise" none of these have been able to solve my problem.

I look forward to any response you can give me :-\, Unable to access windows explorer is really putting a damper on my computing... Thanks in advance!

Okay.. so I don't mean to butt in here,

So don't.

We ask that members not piggy-back questions on to a thread previously started by another member here in the Viruses, Spyware & other Nasties forum, (regardless of how similar your problem might seem). Not only does it divert the focus of the thread away from the original poster's problem, but it also makes it less likely that you yourself will get the individual attention that you need.

Please start your own thread and post your question there. When you do, please try to give us as much specific info as possible regarding the problem (exact error messages, system specs, etc.).

Oh, well I apologize.. I was just trying to make things a little easier on everyone.. didn't know.

Okay, unfortunately I didn't get any help with the situation, so I did it myself. It's not quite how I wanted to. I don't believe that I was infected with a virus, I think maybe just a corrupt file here and there. I had the same problem you did, and at first it would try and show me an error message, but it was too quick to see, then it turned into what we both experienced.

Try putting in your windows disk and repairing, mine didn't work that way unfortunately... I had to completely re-install windows... But everything works like a charm now. Best of luck to ya.

Oh, well I apologize.. I was just trying to make things a little easier on everyone.. didn't know.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. There would have been two different hijackthis logs from two different ppl running simultaneously. All that does is create confusion.

Yea.. I see where you're coming from. I thought instead of doing multiple threads.. y'know? Anyway... I got the problem resolved.. figured I'd throw in my two-cents in this thread and hope it helped the other guy out.

It's all good :).

Hi li_jiang_1.

First of all- welcome to Daniweb :).

For a full description of our posting guidelines and general rules of conduct, please see this page:
