Hello, first of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am a novice computer user and a mom of 2. My son who is 14 likes to download music ect...well this has become a very big problem. The main problem at the moment is the Prosearching.com that has taken over my homepage. I have downloaded HJT, cwshredder, spybot, cookiewall etc. and still cannot get rid of it. I did a search in your forum and did find alot of answers, but Im not sure on what Im doing and what to look for etc. I have a HJT log if you would like to see it.

I printed out the directions for the safe mode, tried to get into my task manager and when I do "ctrl" "alt" +"del" nothing happens? Im sure that is a problem also.

Please let me know if you would like to see my HJT log and possibly help me out?

Thanks so much
Renee

I would love to do it. Will give directions now to ensure there are no hiccups.

unzip hijackthis it into it's own, permanent folder, (Not a temporary folder or the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Start HJT & with all browser windows closed, press the scan button. When the scan is finished the scan button will change to save. Save the log to a text file, copy the entire contents of the text file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is harmless & even necessary to the running of your system.

So I should save HJT to a disk and run it from there? It is currently in the winzip temp. folder.

When crunchie said: "not directly on your hard drive", he meant not in the root (C:) directory. Create a C:\HijackThis folder or something like that and save HJT there.

Okay, I put HJT into its own folder, went into safe mode and ran HJT. Checked the boxes that said "prosearching.com" and deleted them. Restarted computer and it still is showing up. Here is the current HJT log.

Reboot into safe mode & Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' : (very important that no other windows are open or nothing will be fixed)

Delete this folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ONCEFORDBONE<<<<

Reboot normally.
