Hey all, well over the last little while my hp laptop has been going increasingly crazier. Every once in a while the whole thing will just freeze for no apparent reason and not even let me shut down...to the point where my only option is to unhook it from its power (not healthy, i know). Then sometimes it's not frozen but it wont let me open any application...and i mean nothing! not web-browsers, not programs, not even the task manager...i click on something and the hourglass pops up for a second and then disappears and that's it. I've used my kaspersky scan and my ad-aware scan and nothing comes up.
So here's my log. Any help will be much appreciated and good karma will be sent your way!
Thanks in advance!

I should add that i recently ran cccleaner...and im not 100% sure that i didnt delete anything important by accident.

I suggest that you uninstall speed startup.
It might be responsible for the wired behavior of your machine.
I'm not saying that it is a nastie. Probably buggy.

Im not sure that it's the speed startup, the problems started before i installed it.

Hello, can i get a little help please??
my comp is getting worse and worse by the hour. Please, im begging!

Since you beg....
If the A/V scan didn't solve your problem, it is obvious that it is not nastie that is causing the problem.

It has all the sypthoms of bad memory sticks. Only, you would get occasional BSOD or any kind of error. If you did have any of those, posting them would be a way to go.

Ya, that's the weird thing. I never get any error messages, everything just randomly freezes. Or, like i said, suddenly nothing opens anymore and there's nothing i can do except shut'er all down. Starting to get really annoyed at all this. Ran my virus scan again and still nothing.
Also, on an assumingly unrelated note, whenever i use the highlight feature in microsoft word, the whole thing just freezes for 3 or 4 seconds before letting me do stuff again. This is awful since im highlighting a 150 page document!!
Good lord...computers were supposed to simplify our lives weren't they?
So, nothing else in my log looks funky?
thanks

The log is clean as a whistle.

I could think of 1 more quick diagnosis: over clocking CPU and/or VGA. OCing can cause such unexpected stalls. Only, VGA OCing would also cause visual glitches (black squares on the display).

Anyway, windows are prone to getting too slow/buggy to the point where you need to reinstall everything all over. If it has been more than a year since last time, don't be surprised if you need a fresh windows installation. especially if you tend to install programs like speedstart that are messing around system registry.
Just make sure that you have backed up all of your work before (or if) you decide to format the HD.

If the problem continues right after the fresh install, that would mean that you have a hardware problem on your hands. Most likely faulty RAM. (no BSODs nor error messages are mandatory)

Thanks for all your help Chaky. One last question, can you explain what a faulty RAM would mean? If that was the case would i just have to buy a new memory stick?
Thanks again.

Faulty RAM usually means $50 - $150, depending on the laptop model/manufacturer.

Usually there are more than one stick, so you would have to experiment (trying it out with 1 stick at the time) before you are certain which one is the faulty one. There are no sure signs, except some memory testing programs. Now that I've mentioned it, try memtest86, or burn the memtest86 bootable CD. That program usually exposes faulty RAM. Best thing to do is to burn the CD, boot the machine and let it run over night.

thanks for all your help boss, much appreciated!
consider this case closed! =)
