If you do not have Adaware, then please download it but not run it yet.

Download & instal Adaware from here
& update it.
In settings under 'scanning,' have it set to
'scan within archives,'
'scan active processes,'
'scan registry,'
'deepscan registry'
'scan my IE Favourites for banned URL's,'
'scan my host's file.'
In 'tweaks' under 'scanning engine' set it to 'unload recognised processes during scanning.'
Also in 'tweaks' under 'cleaning engine' set it to 'Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion' & 'let Windows remove files in use at next reboot.'

Download and install APM from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm

Close all windows except HijackThis and fix the lines above.

In the upper window of APM select explorer.exe
In the lower window find and rightclick the BHO from the HijackThis log
Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.

Reboot and scan with AdAware to remove the txt and html protocol association.

Post new log after a reboot.

I think it's a pain!! :) .

Click here to download and install Registrar Lite. Install, run, copy and paste this line to reglite's address bar:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\\AppInit_DLLs

and hit the "go" tab. Find: "Appinit_Dlls" value on the right side panel, DoubleClick, copy and post here the information in the 'Value' field.

Click here or here to download FindnFix.exe (2K/XP only!) by freeatlast. Double-click on the FINDnFIX.exe and it will install a folder called FINDnFIX on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt here.

registrar lite: C:\WINDOWS\System32\logfof.dll
i need notpad i dont have a link perhaps?? for findnfix

thanks for all ur help

yea i downloaded findnfix then when its done i guess it puts it info in notepad and my comp said it didnt find notepad

Notepad.

Go to System32\dllcache and find notepad.exe
Right Click on Notepad.exe and choose copy from the menu.

Go back to the System32 folder and right click on an empty space in the window. Choose paste from the menu. This will place a fresh copy of Notepad in your system32 folder. See if you can make the log now.

thanx notepad was already there and the computer was just lookin in the wrong place so here is the findnfix log

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here & navigate to & delete the following if found:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint folder

C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfjpxlt.exe

Reboot normally after doing the above then post a fresh log please.

for some reason i am not able to restart in safe mode. when i do the run msconfig thing the window that supposed to come up does but the quickly dissapears and i can seem to do the F8 ting right soo ??? now what???

Try deleting them in normal mode. If you cannot do so Download moveonboot from here & the file(s) you choose will be deleted on reboot.

MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, move or delete files on the next system boot. This comes in very handy, if you need to replace or delete files which are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot. You could manually enter a line to the wininit files, but using MoveOnBoot is much simpler, since the program can be integrated into shell - it creates the "Copy/Move/Delete on boot" context menu item.

ok i couldnt find the sfjpxlt.exe and the viewpoint one of its dll's was being used by another proram i was wondering what viewpoint is before i delete it. thanx for the help whenu tell me what viewpoint is is i dont really need then i wil delete it with moveonboot thanx for all ur elp

From sysinfo:
Viewpoint Manager for Viewpoint Media Player - spyware as bundled with AOL, AOL Instant Messenger, Netscape 7, etc. See here.

ok i would love to get rid of this program but i use AOL : ( even though it sucks dont know y i keep i never use it but oh well about:blank hasnt come back yet soo thanx for all ur help if there anyting else that needs deletin just tell me other than that thanks and goodbye

I believe you can rid yourself of it & still use AOL.

Marking this as solved. Anyone else with the same problem, please start your own thread. Thank you.
