Hi. I got a virus this past week that kept causing Internet Explorer to randomly open itself every few minutes. I got on the phone with a Symantec Tech on Monday night who supposedly fixed everthing for me that night (for a mere $100). Since then I've run a Norton Antivirus Scan every evening at it tells me the same thing - that it has found backdoor.rustock.b and I need to restart. I've been doing that and everything has been ok but now all of a sudden my computer just turned itself off at I can only restart it in Safe Mode! If I try to restart it in Normal Mode I get a freaky blue and white screen of death. I can't connect to the internet while in Safe Mode, so I am unable to download any of the hijack this stuff that I keep reading about on here. (I am posting this from my really old MAC). SO, when the computer does restart in Safe Mode I get this message "The driver for the display device was unable to complete a drawing operation. This display driver for the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 ... seems to be responsible for the system instability." My question is - IS this just a freaky coincidence after my total virus breakdown over here this week, or could the virus be resposible for this? Obviously the Symantec Tech did not remove the virus because Norton finds it and Quarantines it every single night. Any advice would be appreciated.
THANKS!
