Newbie to linux and trying to get modem to work with linuxe. Need Help
Below are ddumps of info on modem and system.

it seems that SUSE find the modem at the hardware level durning boot. But cannot figure out how to set it up in SUSE. Also get following message aft SUSE splash screen is displayed.
"Message from syslogd@linux at Thu Dec 16 16:01:19 2004 ...

I was tweeking the idea and it is a simple fix
Have had same problem USR5610B uses DOS COM 4 which is suppose to be tty5 but that is not true in most case
I read that it is set up the same way /dev/ttyS14 at 0xd000 (irq = 5) is a 16550A
1st - download and install lnux_3commdm-1.0-1.i386.rpm
if already installed good
2nd - need to log on as su using shell konsole to make a symbolic link
3rd - "su"
password
rm /dev/modem
ln -s /dev/ttyS14 /dev/modem
4th - set up modem with YAST2 it may already be listed if not set up manually it seems to work
