I really hope someone can help me. I setup an msn email account thru thunderbird and it will receive email with no problem. But it will not send out emails. keeps giving an conecting to SMTP smtp.live.com failed message. I am running thunderbird for linux by the way

Try and telnet smtp.live.com with the port you are using (25, 587 or whatever Live wants you to use). If connection refused it might be the wrong port or a firewall issue.

When I telnet smtp.live.com on port 25 (or 587) I get:

220 BLU0-SMTP195.phx.gbl Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.4675 ready at Sun, 14 Nov 2010 06:26:40 -0800
