I have a broadband connection and the provider has supplied me a UT300r2u modem.A public static ip has been assigned ,but the problem is that i cannot host a server on the public ip.The IP it assigns to the network adapter ,if i use Linux nating (Using 2 NICs )in a linux server ,it assigns a private ip in the range of 192.168.1.x .

The ip of the router is 192.168.1.1 ,hence it assigns DHCP ip to the NIC card .I tried using the NAT option in the router ,but its not functioning and also not too much security against out side attack.
Kindly let me know if anyone has configured NATing ,so that i can publically host a Private IP using nating ,or is there any other way ,where i can be assigned the public static IP ,given by the provided to the external NIC card.
