I am trying to trash an old HOME folder(from osx.1) which for some reason seems to contain hidden Illustrator text filters. When I try to empty trash, am told it can't do it because Text Filters is in use. How do I disable text filters, (mac os x.2.3) or do a force trash or something?

Go to a terminal or console and become root or some other admin user (by typing su username) that would have permissions. Then cd to where the folder is (one level above the folder, not inside it) and type rm -rf FOLDER where FOLDER is the folder's name.
