Hello,

Me and a friend need to transfer a 6 gigabyte file. We both run OS X 10.4, we need to know the best way.

I assume you mean transferring files over the internet. Read on.

I've transferred large files before over the internet, and probably the best way is to use bittorent. Get yourself (and your friend) a bittorent client; my favorite is Azureus.

Next, create a torrent for the file you wish to send. In Azureus, choose File->Create New Torrent. Since you're only sending to one person, you don't need to specify trackers or anything - just a basic torrent.

Send the generated torrent file to your friend (which is about 1-2 kb). Then when your friend opens the torrent with the bittorent client, make sure yours is running with the torrent file you previously generated. The file will then be transferred over the internet.
