emac osx panther have os 9.2 for classic

I love simple text, but every time I copy paste to it, it shows up in the "curlz" font. Where do I change the default font for the clipboard? Simple text is os 9 and runs in classic mode.

Sure I select and change font, but it is a pain. Any ideas?
