Can you please help me? I keep receiving NUMEROUS IE pop ups while browsing in Firefox. I don't even know what to do.

Thank you!

A few quick notes that build on replies from and : advice about browser settings is reasonable, but persistent Internet Explorer windows appearing while Firefox is being used usually means an external program, scheduled task or adware component is launching IE outside of Firefox. The important next step is to identify which process is actually creating the popup, then remove whatever is starting that process.

When an IE popup appears, capture the owning process and full path (this is far more useful than guessing which browser setting is at fault). Process Explorer from Sysinternals has a window‑finder tool for exactly this purpose: Process Explorer.

Suggested troubleshooting checklist:

  • Reproduce the popup and use Process Explorer (window crosshair) to find the process and note its full executable path and command line.
  • Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and run up‑to‑date on‑demand scanners (Malwarebytes + AdwCleaner are effective at removing adware).
  • Use Autoruns to inspect and disable suspicious startup items, services and scheduled tasks: Autoruns.
  • Check Programs and Features for recently installed or unknown apps/toolbars and remove them; check all browser extensions in every installed browser.
  • Inspect the hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts for unexpected entries and back it up before editing.
  • If the source is a system process (rundll32, mshta, etc.), note the DLL/arguments — that points to the offending component. Do not delete files until the process owner is identified.

If cleanup fails, consider creating a fresh Firefox profile or using System Restore/OS reimage after backing up data. When seeking deeper help, include a screenshot, the popup window title/URL and the process path from Process Explorer — those details let others give precise removal steps.

There could be two of the many reasons. your pop-up blocker is switched off in firefox. secondly. you may need to set firefox as your default browser to open all your internet pages in this browser. Also you may need a security software such as kasperskey

I am using Windows 7 and do not have that problem. IE7 is the default browser, but I use FF the most. While in FF I never see IE7 popups.
