I ran into some problems while trying to do a reinstall of XP PRO and had to install a whole new copy, I have the old copy backed up but now when I log on to windows, it doesn't allow me to log on under my old name, it will not log on at all.

One of the simplest ways is to do a file and system transfer (with the wizard). go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>files and settings transfer wizard. You will create a cd, and after you have reinstalled, you will use the cd to complete the transfer. There is a tutorial to help if you need it....good luck!

I just found that the old registry was wiped, I am unable to log on to windows and have no way to save the info to a disk
thank you for your input though, it will be helpful in the future.:-)
