I have a Windows SBS 2008 system. Occasionally, When I look at the daily report it shows that status of updates as unavailable. The status may be fine for up to 2 weeks or I may get this message every day for 4 or 5 then it disappears for a few days. I can get a work-around to this issue by logging into SQL Server and restarting the SBSMonitoring database.
Does anybody have any ideas or insights into how to identify what the real issue is and hopefully give me some ideas in how to fix it?

The two remaining unknowns are related to DNS. So I would start there, next time you have the issue i would be interested to see what a nslookup returns.

I only have one machine in the domain. The WSUS is on the DC as is SQL Server, a normal SBS 2008 Standard configuration. This error is fairly random, I can get it 2 -3 times in a week then nothing at all for 2 or 3 weeks. How can I troubleshoot this?
