All of the emails would be awesome. Thanks!

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Hi there ... can you please forward the email notifications you received to dani@daniwebmail.com?

Would be super much appreciated.

And in terms of Finder menu options ... Not sure why they're missing for you?? You don't see Unanswered Questions the third up from the bottom?

I will fix soon!! I am accumulating a list of bugs to fix. Unfortunately I have to take care of some Dazah stuff first. But I'll get around to DaniWeb stuff within the next day or two. My goal is to have everything done -- both DaniWeb and Dazah -- by the middle of next week.

Hi,

So when an article is "sponsored" it doesn't necessarily mean that the OP has donated to DaniWeb. It can also mean that the OP is a high profile member, and in exchange for having a lot of kudos, people can earn $ by replying to their threads the same way they can earn $ by replying to the threads of people who donate.

As far as why Derek_8 is showing as sponsored, which is what I was confused about ... my guess is it was revolving around the login bug that has since been fixed. So I'll just keep an eye out to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm not seeing a sponsored icon associated with https://www.daniweb.com/members/1132926/derek-8.

I'll fix the attachment bug soon. In the meantime, you could email me the screenshot at dani@daniwebmail.com.

Most appreciated :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

OK, that's better.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Can someone please email me their username + password that they are attempting to use to log in so I can see if I can reproduce the error on my end and fix it.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Aha, I'm at the dazah page and there is a continue as "me" button. OK, back to daniweb and I'm still not logged in. OK, click the login and nothing happens.

I've been making a lot of changes every minute, but unfortunately I can't reproduce the problem everyone seems to be having that once they click "Continue as Me" it doesn't immediately log them in.

I have no idea what's causing that problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

If it's a push to use the social media login, well, I guess I can try that too but have yet to use that anywhere yet. That would be a first.

It's a push in that it's preferred, but it shouldn't be the only way. What happens when you try to do a password reset?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Is this a Menza test, or a not so subtle push to use a social media login?

It is. ;)

That being said ... for those who wish to use traditional email/password login ... Sorry, I imported emails into Dazah but I didn't import passwords. You will need to do a lost password recovery as of right now.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Soooo, as many of you know, I've been MIA these past few months recoding all of DaniWeb from the ground up!! We're finally just about ready to launch, so expect all new code soon ...

Hi Mike,

Firstly, the link to your blog is broken because you forgot to put the http:// part at the beginning of the link.

Aside from that, signatures only show up when you start a discussion topic, and not with replies. When we switched to this layout, it was decided that it was taking up just too much room, especially in long discussions.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Sorry, I'm not able to reproduce your problem. :(

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm sorry, I cannot reproduce this. Next time, please let me know when the problem still exists, before making another post.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It's supposed to be for yours, but it's forum-based. So while it used to be more specific in knowing that you postin C++ over Java, for example, now it just knows you post in Software Development, and therefore shows you Software Development's most popular tags.

I tried a billion times but it was just too resource-intensive to show your most popular tags, not forum-specific. I might have another go at that though.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Is it currently workking in VB.NET?

I haven't changed anything.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused. When copying/pasting code, you need to highlight it all and hit the tab button, or use the code button in the toolbar. That's the same behavior as always?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Darn CSS columns are really causing me trouble.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

jQuery is a front-end javascript library. You are trying to load it the way you would load a PHP CodeIgniter library. Put this in the HEAD section of your HTML template:

<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.4/jquery.min.js"></script>

I think this is fixed.

I reduced the font size a tiny bit (I still want to keep it bigger than code within regular posts), and I forced the tab stop to 4. (Not sure why it was defaulting to 8??) That should do it.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I honestly think the problem is the tab stop is 8 spaces instead of the normal 4. Not sure why that is. I'll investigate after I get all of the tag moderation stuff done that I'm in the middle of.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Seems being the operative word, because it's the same size as it always was. It just looks bigger in this design for some reason.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

The problem with the code snippet you linked me to is exacerbated in that the poster used 8 spaces for each tab stop, and intended 7 tabs in. In my head, there are ~80 columns/line, and he has 60 columns of spaces. I'm happy with the font choice, so I'll see if that one snippet is an anomaly. If there are others like it, then I'll reduce the font.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

No, I didn't fix it yet. Statistics like that just get automatically recounted once a day to fix inconsistencies in the database (since we don't use database transactions with rollbacks).

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Grr, ok.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

OK, so I'm not quite sure which you're referring to, but you have two options:

Click the bookmark icon to the left of a post to bookmark that individual post.
Click the pushpin icon to the left of the first post in a thread to pin the entire thread to your bulletin board for watching :)

Either way, you can get to your list of bookmarked posts or watched articles from the new Finder menu.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Oh, so instead now you click the bookmark icon at the top left of the post.

You can retrieve all your bookmarks from the top Finder menu --> Posts I've Bookmarked.

It looks like a CSS issue. Have you tried clearing your cache? Does it work fine in other browsers?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm a bit confused. Can you provide a screenshot?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It works for me. It's hosted by Google via Javascript. Do you have an ad blocker by any chance that could be killing it? Either way, it's the same way we used to do search so not sure why it would stop working for you.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

OK, problem fixed. :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm trying desperately to see what happened. I introduced a bug somehow, somewhere, that is making these specific templates render very slowly. Fetching all the data is no problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Nono, not the new design :) The new forum structure that's currently underway.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'll investigate. However, I'm pretty swamped at the moment completely redoing our entire forum structure. :-P

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Forgot to update this thread saying I fixed the problem this morning.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Gah, I can't figure out the problem at first glance, and I really need to get to sleep. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Indeed, you are correct! I will fix :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused. You were never able to vote for yourself?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

No, it's cached on our end, Jim. Our activity stream is heavily, heavily cached, and doesn't take into consideration post edits for an absurdly long time.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Nothing changed. Will investigate.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It wasn't really a bug, but rather a weird effect due to the way that I expire points. Regardless, it's been rectified.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

OK, thanks. Will look into this.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Thanks for the heads up! This has been fixed. Sorry, we have been going through a huge server migration :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Things might have gotten a little wonky because we did an entire server migration tonight. However, it probably wasn't you visitng that page that fixed the issue. Instead, we run a script every so often that recounts things, and it was probably just a coincidence that it ran in the background.

As mentioned, there was a bug last month that was preventing people from requesting a cashout. As soon as the bug was fixed, everyone suddenly requested a cashout all at once! That's why it's taking a long time for me to get all the funds together to pay it all out.

This is also a good explanation as to why the system was designed for points to expire after a year. It's not feasable for us to allow someone to accumulate points over the course of many years and then suddenly cashout five years of points all at once.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It's not a bug. Our web traffic has just been super crappy lately, advertising revenue is down, and donations are way down too. The pool in which we pay cashouts comes primarily from donations, with a little bit extra thrown in from ad revenue to cover everything. Unfortunately, what happened was when the bug was fixed last month, suddenly everyone cashed out all at once, and I am waiting for my PayPal balance to replenish enough in order to pay everyone who requested a cashout. (It's all automated ... every Friday it checks to see if there's enough $ in order to process all the cashouts, and if not, it tries again the following Friday).
