Random restarts are usually caused by spyware and/or viruses. Make sure you scanned your computer and have your favourite Antivirus software uptodate. It is strongly recommended that you scan your computer against spyware using tools like Spybot Search & Destroy.

That error means that the username, password, and/or the host you have provided in the Postnuke installation is wrong. I think you have a problem with the "host", the error indicates that you provided "df44" as the host, which imho sounds a bit wrong. Check that info again!

How about installing a gallery script? If you're PHP/MySQL driven, then something like [URL=http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/]Coppermine[/URL] or [URL=http://gallery.menalto.com/]Gallery2[/URL]. They both do the trick. Unless you really want something quite simplistic and small, then try searching for small scripts that do the trick on Hotscripts.com.
