Have you uninstalled the trial version of the internet download manager? If not, there is a good chance that the program itself is still running your downloads, but won't let them complete because you haven't paid for the program. If so, then uninstall the download manager and just use what …

Try a paper clip ... Straighten out a paper clip. Now, with the laptop turned off, look for a small hole on the CD Drive itself. It should be just the size to accommodate the paper clip. Push the paper clip in gently but firmly until the CD begins to …

Here is something you should examine ... especially if your friend wants to keep his data, whether on an old or new PC ... I would identify the brand hard drive, then go to the manufacturer's site (Seagate, WD, etc.) and download the bootable ISO file to test the drive. …

Hello everyone, This is my first post here. I have been trying for months to decide which diagnostics "tool kit" to order. These are the ones I have been considering, but I can't find any comparative reviews on them. Smith-Micro offers CheckIt Professional for $300. I have their portable edition …

Let me start by saying that your post is unclear on a number of points: first, which machine are you now trying to use the drive in -- the original, or the other one? Second, did you try to use it as the boot drive in the other computer, or …

Alright, this might be a stretch, but I have seen your symptom once before: A dual processor motherboard and a set of cpu's that weren't compatible. A customer purchased them on his own, then brought it to me when it continued doing what you described. After looking it over, I …

This will let you repartition your hard drive, shrinking one partition, creating or growing another, and formatting it to FAT32, NTFS, or various Linux formats: GParted Live CD. You download and burn the ISO, and then boot off this CD to do the partition work. Documentation is available on the …

Wendy, After a quick glance, I didn't see any major bad guys (but a few things to remove anyway). First of all, in my experience, Logitech Desktop Messenger is an unnecessary overload. Get rid of that through the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel. Your mouse and keyboard and any other Logitech …

Because your access to the internet involves an address ... that address on the web is the equivalent of your home address, like the postal service uses, except this is an electronic address. All communications get stamped with your address. And gets saved ... somewhere. If you really want to …

I don't know if this will solve your problem or not, but a quick Google search makes me think this is a Visual Basic error. Lots of programs incorporate VB nowadays, so perhaps installing the latest runtime version of Visual Basic would help. If so, here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bf9a24f9-b5c5-48f4-8edd-cdf2d29a79d5&displaylang=en …

One thing you might try right away, is to right click the file. Then you should be able to chose "Open" instead of "Search". Of course, this is just a work-around ... ... and you've lived with this problem for a year and a half? I'm surprised you didn't reinstall …

First, "last known good configuration" is a Windows boot choice, not a means of changing your BIOS settings. Go back into the BIOS and look for a "Load BIOS defaults" or something similar. Choose that, save the settings, then restart.

Greetings to everyone, The most important thing about me is that I'm a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. He is my God, my Lord, and my Savior. Who else am I? I'm self-employed as a computer tech. I started in computer sales over 20 years ago, and then started …
