Wendy,

After a quick glance, I didn't see any major bad guys (but a few things to remove anyway). First of all, in my experience, Logitech Desktop Messenger is an unnecessary overload. Get rid of that through the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel. Your mouse and keyboard and any other Logitech accessories will still work fine without it.

Secondly, you seem to have both Norton Antivirus and CA eTrust Internet Security Suite installed. You can only have one antivirus program installed at a time, or they are guaranteed to fight each other. Now Symantec might be partially uninstalled, but there are large chunks of it left behind. There is a good chance this is the core of your problem.

Here is a link to the Norton removal tool:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

And here are a few items to remove in Hijack This:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {043B5D00-92A9-4cae-A3D8-A4B4B8D52BB1} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: REALBAR - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-C0FF-FD60B590A87D} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: REALBAR - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-C0FF-FD60B590A87D} - (no file)

And, unless you use Weatherbug, clear this also:

O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvw.dll (HKCU)

The same with this AOL Toolbar:

O8 - Extra context menu item: &AOL Toolbar search - res://C:\PROGRAM FILES\AOL TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/SEARCH.HTML

Also, I would remove every Google item that I don't actually use, including the update notifier service, through Add/Remove Programs. I would also do the same with all the extra Yahoo stuff.

Last, use Startup Lite to turn off some of the startups you don't need to have running. You can download it from here:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php

The last think I will mention is Error Nuker. If you don't have the paid version, it won't fix anything, so it doesn't need to be on "autostart". If you only have the trial, uninstall it.

Good luck, and let us know the result.

I believe I have removed all you mentioned and then some. The pop up is still there:

Cannot find file "WINDOWS/Privacy_danger/index.htm make sure your path to the internet is correct.

I used to play Real Arcade games and they will not work because the pop up makes the screen freeze. However the rest of the computer such as getting to the internet is much faster.

My life will not end if I do not play games but they were a bit relaxing. If there is an answer to ridding that pop up from my life I would be happy.

Ok, Wendy,

Let's start by turning off the System Restore, so the bad guy can't cheat his way back in:

Right click on "My Computer", then click "Properties".
Click the "System Restore" tab.
Put a check mark in "Turn off system restore on all drives."
You can turn this back on after you are certain your problem is all cleared up.

Perhaps you should do an online virus scan. Here is a good one:

Secondly, you can try removing both the file and the reference to it in your registry.

According to the pop-up, the file is in a Windows folder. You may need to be able to see all files, so open up Explorer (start, All Programs, Accessories, Explorer). Now go to the Tools Menu, and click "Folder Options". Click the View tab on top, then select "Show hidden files and folders".

Now go to the Windows folder and look for a folder named privacy_danger. Highlight the folder, hold down the shift key, then press delete. If the folder isn't there, don't worry; if it is there, but won't delete, we'll deal with that after you do these other things.

Close Explorer now.

Before we edit the registry, we'll back it up. Go to this web site and download ERUNT. When you install it, use all the default choices. Then run it and make a backup immediately. You will download it by clicking "Server 2" or "Server 3" in the left hand side.

Open the Registry editor, as follows:

Start menu, Run; now type in "regedit" and hit the Enter key.

Highlight "My Computer" at the very top of the registry list.

Now go into the Edit Menu, and click "Find".

Type in "privacy_danger" and click "Find Next".

Delete any key it finds with that name.

Now press the "F3" key on your keyboard so it will find the next entry. Delete each one it finds.

Now it's time to reboot and see what happens.

Hello Chuck,

All the processes you listed are complete. There were several potential virus files that have been removed. The pop up came back yesterday so I went back though your steps as well as a disk clean up.

I have had NO occurance of the pop up and every thing is working much better, including my game but not from Real Arcade. That seem to break every thing when I down loaded the program.

Thanks so much for your help. If there are other steps I need to take let me know.

Wendy
